Each fist stands for 10 doors knocked or 10 calls made, toward goals of 11,780 knocks and 8,200 calls. The goals are split between the cities by housing units (knocks) and by phone numbers on our lists (calls). Fists fill in a random order, so progress shows up across the whole area rather than street by street.
A door knocked counts once per door per day, and a call once per number per day. A conversation is a door or call where the person answered and talked with us; quick refusals and hang-ups are not counted. A completed survey reached the question about how the person plans to vote. Outlines are drawn loosely around our canvass areas and do not show individual blocks.
